Welcome to a tutorial on the basics and mechanics of how eXtensible Markup Language works.

eXtensible Markup Lanugage is ubiquitous in our world today and many people need at least a passing familiarity with how it works. This tutorial provides some small amount of historical background and covers all the bits and pieces of the XML specification.  Note that I include coverage of the Unicode standard because XML and Unicode are inextricably intertwined. :)
